On the banks of Rongyung Chu

A review
(December, 2010)
‎

I spent five magical days with Gyatso and his extemded family in December 2010 during a month long trip around India.  It was without a doubt the highlight of my trip, and one of the best travel experiences I've ever had!

Passindang village in Dzongu is simply stunning!  It is nested amongst lush green, misty, forested mountains with clean, crisp mountain air and beautiful starry skies.  Around Gyatso's house grow delicious organic papayas, madarins and wild avacodos.  And, a few minute's walk from the house is the meandering emerald coloured Teesta river with it's cozy sandy beaches.  It's like being transported to another world!

However, the most memorable part of the stay at Mayal Lyang was the incredible warmth and hospitality Gyatso and his family showed me.  Gyatso organised my stay in Gangtok and both picked me up nad dropped me off again.  At the house, I was welcomed with open arms, made to feel a part of the family and treated like a king!  Samsay spent all day in the kitchen cooking the most delicious food with fresh vegetables straight from the garden.  And in five days, I never ate the same dish twice!  Everyone bent over backwards to make my stay as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible. And best of all, I feel that I've made lifelong friends.

Thank you Gyatso and family for an unforgettable time.
